Derek Karpinski

I am a third-year Computer Science student at New York University focused on systems programming and low-level software. My interests include operating systems, Linux, computer architecture, networking, and Unix systems. I enjoy building software in C and developing a deeper understanding of the systems and abstractions underlying modern computing. Below you can find a selection of my projects.

Unix / Systems

Shell — a small Unix shell written in C.
Terminal Text Editor — a terminal-based text editor written in C.
Unix Tools — implementations of common Unix command-line utilities.

Network Applications

HTTP Server — a small HTTP server using POSIX sockets.
TCP Server — a TCP client-server application using sockets.
UDP File Transfer — a file transfer program built on UDP.
Reverse Proxy — a reverse proxy for forwarding network requests.

Network Tools

Port Scanner — a TCP port scanning utility.
Packet Analyzer — a tool for inspecting network packets.
Ping — an implementation of the ping utility using ICMP.
